Core Courses

What are Core MBA Courses?

The majority of MBA programs have what are called “Core Courses”  — or fundamental business courses that make up the beginning of the MBA curriculum. Students will take these courses, usually in a pre-determined order during their first year of the program. It is not until the end of their first year that students begin refining the focus of their studies. It is in this first year where students with a basic understanding of business (whether it be through undergrad or work experience) refine the basics, and where non-business students are inundated with new information. Understanding these fundamental core classes is extremely important in succeeding in the remaining year of the MBA. For this reason, I have laid out the core courses below in an easy to understand list. The links below will lead you to key topics, important books, and popular case studies that are frequently covered in these classes.
